SSPX Publications Division

My solo-design firm strives to create and design illustrated educational books for publishers. Inspired by award-winning author Piers Bizony, I design the layout in a uniquely informative, engaging and mesmerizing fashion. I highlight engineering marvels in space and industry and aim to share their unappreciated beauty to inspire and inform using photography and elegant annotations.

A Modern Insight into the UK Steel Industry

The steel industry drives basically every aspect of modern life - not just forming the basis and structure of buildings, bridges, appliances, furniture, vehicles, ships and machines. Steel is used in everything, even if something isn't made of steel, this material would have been used to make it or transport it.

For this book, I aim to travel to lots of steel factories throughout the United Kingdom - the country that pioneered the Industrial Revolution - and photograph the beauty of steel in its production and applications in an impressively crafted illustrated encyclopedia.

About the founder

Raphael Johann “John” Chryslar is a British author and freelance photographer, with a keen interest and in-depth knowledge in space engineering, chemical and physical science, new formalism architecture, and industrial history and its future possibilities. Once called “the Walking Encyclopedia” Chryslar was drawn to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related interests from a very early age. Growing up, he would self-research and self-teach himself in his spare time through books and documentaries on TV about certain topics on history and technological innovations, such as the space shuttle or how steel is made, and would then go on to ‘teach’ other peers in school.

During his later youth life, Chryslar had a wonderful experience learning advanced engineering at Milton Keynes College, even becoming friends with fellow teaching staff who share his passion and express enthusiasm. Chryslar dreams of becoming an astronaut/space tourist, and is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Hertfordshire in the field of Aerospace with Space Technology.
